Man accused in Raleigh, Wake robberies faces five more charges

— Walter Kevin Johnson, arrested in connection with a string of armed robberies last month in Raleigh and Wake County, has had more charges added this week to the list of offenses of which he is accused.

Johnson, 28, of 6124 Braidwood Court in Raleigh and a Chapel Hill native, was arrested last Friday on 24 robbery, kidnapping and other charges related to five gunpoint robberies between Sept. 22 and 27.

Monday, authorities added two misdemeanor charges, one for assault by pointing a gun and one for assault on a female.

Tuesday, they added a felony charge of obtaining property by false pretenses, and on Wednesday they added two more counts.

Bail on the new charges raised Johnson’s total to $3,605,000.

In four of the five robbery cases, A man made victims drive to ATMs to withdraw money to give him.

Johnson was being held in the Wake County Detention Center.

He is scheduled to return to court Nov. 14.
