Frank Leonard: Wasteful excess

October 18, 2013

I voted for Gov. Pat McCrory thinking him to be the better choice for governor of North Carolina. After reading the Oct. 12 news article “McCrory to spend $230,000 to redo mansion bathrooms” I questioned my decision. I do not question the need to make repairs (McCrory later agreed to spend less on renovations), but in today’s economic climate where average citizens are told to tighten their budget belts, this yells excess in my mind. Many whole houses don’t cost $230,000 much less a bathroom renovation.

Another example of excess of government spending, while requiring our school teachers and children to operate with less.
