Charles Burt: Moderation needed

October 19, 2013

The opinion expressed by the writer of the Sept. 27 letter “‘Truth’ and liberals” really addresses what’s wrong with the GOP mentality. His comment, “They won elections and are doing just what they were elected to do,” is an excuse manufactured by the conservative extreme tea party.

I’m tired of that excuse for all the stupid legislation and management issues. Not all Republican voters are extremely conservative. I believe we’ll see a trend for more moderation. That’s what our leaders are elected to do. We need to elect Republicans and Democrats who can work together to build government that works for the good of all people and not just the wealthy.
