William Everett: Natural forces causing global warming

October 20, 2013

The Sept. 25 news article “What 95% certainty means on climate change” is yet another example of man’s arrogance.

Once again, the contribution of natural forces to climate variability is ignored in a rush to judgment concerning man’s role in global warming. If man’s production of carbon dioxide is the cause of the warming, then why has the warming trend paused during a period when man has been increasing that production? Should it not be apparent that other forces are at work and that, perhaps, man’s contribution is insignificant?

At a time when there are more and more strident calls for humans to change their lifestyles, it would be valuable for them to be provided with more exact data on man’s contribution to global warming versus the contribution of natural forces.
