Islanders place Visnovsky on IR

Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Islanders have placed defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky on injured reserve.

Visnovsky suffered a concussion during the first period of Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

The 37-year-old Visnovsky has one goal and two assists in eight games this season.

The Islanders recalled forward Brock Nelson from Bridgeport (AHL). He has one assist in four games with New York this season.
