Statistically speaking: Female small-business owners struggling to get financing

Most women small-business owners are struggling to secure financing to run their companies, according to a June survey of 478 owners conducted by the Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, a research and education organization. Here are other findings:

66% have not used outside financing, but are using credit cards, retirement funds and severance pay.

26% cite financing as a barrier to business entry or growth.

20% generate $5,000 or less in annual revenue.

15% generate $100,000 to $249,000 annually.
