NC troopers identify pedestrian killed in Johnston County

— The State Highway Patrol has identified a teen who was struck and killed by a car Sunday night on Black Creek Road in Johnston County as Jonathan Barbour, 16, of 6232 Swift Creek Road, Smithfield.

The Highway Patrol said the teen was not carrying identification when he was hit as he walked east along Black Creek Road, between Long Branch Road and N.C. 210 west of Smithfield, shortly before 9 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found he was walking in the eastbound lane when he was struck by a Ford Mustang driven by a 19-year-old woman. The driver will not be charged.
