This week's high school football games in the Triangle

From staff reportsOctober 22, 2013

Game of the week

Knightdale can take a huge step toward winning the Greater Neuse 4A football championship Friday when it will play at home against traditional league heavyweight Garner.

Knightdale is the only team that is undefeated in the league, but Garner, East Wake and Southeast Raleigh have one loss apiece. The Knights will face Garner this week and East Wake on Nov. 8. Knightdale beat Southeast Raleigh last week 42-14.

The Knights’ loss was 23-22 to Heritage during the third week of the season. Since then, Knightdale has won each game by at least 14 points.

Knightdale allows 14.4 points per game, but Garner scores 47.2 per game.

Garner, which reached the 2011 state final and the 2012 semifinals, has lost to Cleveland and East Wake this season.
