Friday Night Heroes, week 9, includes Southern Durham's Kendall Hinton

Player of the week: Kendall Hinton of Southern Durham passed for 180 yards and six touchdowns in a 56-54 win against Pittsboro Northwood.

Play of the week: Orange quarterback Garrett Cloer connected with Ky-Jzier Muller on a 55-yard touchdown pass on the final play for a 6-0 victory over Chapel Hill.

Defense of the week: Chapel Hill held then-No.1-ranked Orange to 102 rushing yards and 87 passing yards in a 6-0 loss. Orange had averaged 44 points per game in its first seven games and had only 104 total yards before an 85-yard scoring drive during the final minute.

Special teams player: Maurice Trowell of Southern Durham returned a kickoff 64 yards for a touchdown and had seven catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns in the win against Northwood.

This week’s number: 36 – Carries Cleveland senior running back Isaac Martin had in the 31-28 victory Friday night against Triton. Martin ran for 269 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Reid Herring, Millbrook: Competed 16 of 21 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns in a 40-19 Cap Eight 4A victory over previously undefeated Wakefield.

Bryce Love, Wake Forest: Rushed for 188 yards on 12 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 37-7 win against Heritage.

Donte’ Thomas-Williams, Hillside: Scored three touchdowns and ran for 209 yards in a 35-21 win against Durham Riverside.

Ti Pinnix, Pittsboro Northwood: Completed 23 of 35 passes for 317 yards in a 56-54 loss to Pittsboro Northwood.

Damontay Rhem, East Wake: Ran for 184 yards and scored three times in a 30-24 win against West Johnston. Quarterback Trent Ellis rushed for 174 yards and passed for 112.

Jeriko Styles, Sanderson: Ran for four touchdowns in a 42-16 win against Broughton.

Brant Grisel, Middle Creek: Tossed four touchdown passes and had 273 passing yards in a key 35-14 Southwest Wake 4A victory over Holly Springs.

Tyrick Bullock, Northern Vance: Ran for 181 yards in a 42-7 loss to Cardinal Gibbons.

Garrett Smith, South Johnston: Completed 18 of 39 passes for 240 yards and ran for the winning touchdown in overtime in a 31-28 victory over Corinth Holders.

Cole Sakowski, Corinth Holders: Passed for 254 yards in a 31-28 loss to South Johnston.

Tyler Williams, Fuquay-Varina: Ran for 186 yards in a 34-16 loss to Panther Creek.

Nyheim Hines, Garner: Scored five touchdowns in a 62-6 win against Harnett Central.

Jamie Herakovich, Ravenscroft: Passed for 231 yards and two touchdowns and ran for four scores in a 65-12 victory over North Raleigh Christian.
