Panzanella to close at the end of the year

Posted by Greg Cox on October 24, 2013

Panzanella, a contemporary Italian restaurant operated by Weaver Street Market in Carrboro, has announced that it will not renew its lease with Carr Mill Mall at the end of the year. The press release announcing the closing cited rising costs and declining sales.

Management will be working with staff over the next two months to help them transition to a new job, either in Weaver Street Market or elsewhere.

The restaurant, which opened 14 years ago, was a pioneer in focusing on fresh, local ingredients. It will be missed, but those whose memories of Panzanella go back to the early days will fondly remember the apple rosemary crostata and their first taste of the restaurant’s namesake salad.
