Leigh Sanders: Separate church and State Fair

October 24, 2013

During our otherwise fabulous day at the State Fair recently, we left the livestock competition for our final stop. Imagine our surprise when we were herded through a makeshift Christian Bible camp! While we walked through, several men tried to hand us Bibles while others offered my children free gifts if we would sit down for an impromptu religious conversion. And if that weren’t inappropriate enough, we were forced to exit through that same conversion trek.

People have plenty of places to choose from for conversions, such as churches, but there are painfully few places that offer people fried Oreos. Surely our devoted annual attendance warrants a separation of church and State Fair.
