CHAPEL HILL — The northbound lanes of U.S. 15-501 near UNC-Chapel Hill were closed for about two hours Friday morning following an accident involving five vehicles, according to Chapel Hill police.
The accident had been cleared by shortly after 10 a.m., and traffic was returning to normal, police said.
The lanes were closed near Kings Mill Road, on a stretch of 15-501 that’s also known as Fordham Boulevard. As of 8 a.m., traffic was being detoured onto Columbia Street to Manning Drive and back to Fordham Boulevard.
One driver was temporarily trapped in their vehicle, and two people were taken to UNC Hospitals with what were thought to be not life-threatening injuries, according to police.
