Earl Gilliam: Doonesbury too negative about N.C.

October 25, 2013

I have been reading the Doonesbury comic strip forever, it seems, even though the political and cultural satire usually has a liberal or democratic spin to it. But in his Oct. 6 comic strip, Garry Trudeau put the spotlight on North Carolina in a very negative way. He managed to “highlight” all the things that Gov. Pat McCrory has done but in a very negative and misleading way. The governor and all the other proud North Carolinians should be outraged by this distortion of facts by Trudeau. Trudeau should stick to story lines that involve Uncle Duke, Zonker and B.D. and leave state politics to the political pundits.
