RALEIGH — A Raleigh man was charged with murder Friday, after the man he is accused of assaulting with a bottle during a robbery attempt died.
Police say Britis Anruce Previlon, 31, beat Curtis Ray Woodard on the 900 block of East Hargett Street at about 11:15 p.m. on Oct. 7, then took off on foot. Police, with the help of a Wake County Sheriff’s Office canine team, found Previlon about two hours later on the 200 block of South State Street.
Woodward, 64, died at WakeMed in Raleigh on Wednesday of his injuries, according to the Raleigh Police Department. Police upped the assault charge from attempted murder to murder.
In addition, Previlon has been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and resisting a police officer during his arrest.
Previlon, 9321 River Haven Place, was being held Friday evening, his bail set at more than $1 million, but a potential increase in that amount was pending. Arrest warrants list him as an employee of Elster Electric, where he was an assembler.
