Mrs. John Hollis Fields II

Courtenay Anne Griffin of Greensboro, North Carolina and John Hollis Fields II of Greensboro, North Carolina were united in marriage at half after five o'clock in the evening on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Figure Eight Island in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Reverend Philip Byrum of Wilson, North Carolina officiated. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the Figure Eight Island Yacht Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Shelton Griffin of Wilson, North Carolina and the granddaughter of the late Col. and Mrs. William Hendrick Gilmore of Palmer Springs, Virginia and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Thurman Griffin of Epsom, North Carolina.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jorman Wade Fields of Summerfield, North Carolina and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gilmer Wade Burge of Elon, North Carolina and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hollis Fields of Fayetteville and Concord, North Carolina.

The bride was given in marriage by her family. Emily Nobles Preiss of Raleigh, North Carolina and Kristin Cartwright Williams of Marsh Harbour, Abaco Islands, The Bahamas were matrons of honor. Flower girls were Mary Gaughan Curtin of Menlo Park, California and Nobles Marjorie Preiss of Raleigh, North Carolina, goddaughters of the bride and Emma Forbes Fields and Susan Watson Fields, of Greensboro, nieces of the groom.

Mr. Jorman Wade Fields, father of the groom and Jorman Wade Fields, Jr. of Greensboro, brother of the groom served as best men.

Elijah Shelton Griffin, Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina, brother of the bride was the crucifer. William Taylor Griffin of New Bern, North Carolina, brother of the bride and Ainsley Smith Tayloe, of Beaufort, South Carolina were scripture readers. Katherine Whitley Ragsdale and Seaborn Wrenn Ragsdale of Jamestown, North Carolina served as program attendants and Mrs. Kenneth Rhodes Hyde, Jr. of Wilson, North Carolina was the wedding director.

On Thursday morning a round of golf was played at Eagle Point Golf Club and Thursday evening friends of the bride and groom hosted an oyster roast at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Francis Marshall on Figure Eight Island. On Friday evening the rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Eagle Point Golf Club and following the dinner, friends of the groom's family hosted a dance. On Sunday a brunch was held at the home of the bride on Figure Eight Island hosted by friends of the bride's family.

The bride graduated from Oldsfields School, in Glencoe Maryland and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Peace College in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was presented at the Terpsichorean Ball in Raleigh in 2000. She is an owner of Wine and Design in Greensboro. The groom graduated from Greensboro Day School and studied at the School of Textiles at North Carolina State University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He is Vice President of Sales for Textile Network Concepts, Incorporated and is owner and President of Greenfield Productions, Incorporated also in Greensboro.

The bride and groom will reside in Greensboro.
