Game On Dude leads the way approaching Breeders' Cup

New York, NY ( - Game On Dude, perfect in five starts this year, has a hold on first-place in the NTRA National Thoroughbred Poll immediately prior to the 30th Breeders' Cup.

Trained by Bob Baffert, Game On Dude will enter the World Championship- weekend atop the poll after receiving 37 top votes and 423 points. The 6-year- old gelding, partly owned by Joe Torre, will make his third start Saturday in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita.

Horse of the Year Wise Dan, who will defend his title in the Breeders' Cup Mile, is second in the voting with five first-place votes and 374 points.

"He couldn't be doing any better," trainer Charlie LoPresti said earlier about Wise Dan.

Leading 3-year-old filly Princess of Sylmar is third with one first-place vote and 316 points followed by champion mare Royal Delta who has 248 points. The two will meet Friday in the Breeders' Cup Distaff.

In fifth is Point of Entry (158) followed by Graydar (129), Mucho Macho Man (118), Will Take Charge (116) and Ron the Greek (111).

Fort Larned is back in 10th-place with 94 points as he prepares to defend his win in last year's Breeders' Cup Classic.

"He can do whatever you want with him. He can lay off, he can sit behind or he can go to the lead," noted Ian Wilkes, Fort Larned's trainer.
