Two charged after police surround, search Raleigh movie theater

From staff reportsOctober 29, 2013

— Two men brought a police cordon around a movie theater and a special-weapons team to its roof after police said they confronted an employee arriving for the day Monday and he fled.

Stanley Mark Joyner, 43, of 61 Parker Lane in Conetoe, and Alonza Deshawn Wiggins of 100 Dale Wood Drive in Rockey mount were charged with felony breaking and entering at the Carmike theater at 5501 Atlantic Springs Road.

The employee went into the theater about 11:30 a.m., ran into two men and ran out and found a nearby police officer, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.

Police who rushed to the theater detained Joyner as he came out the front entrance, Sughrue said, and a dog and members of the department’s Selective Enforcement Team found Wiggins on the roof about 1:30 p.m.

Joyner was being held in lieu of S20,000 bail and Wiggins in lieu of $15,000 for court appearances Tuesday.
