Matchup to Watch

Dwight Howard vs. Al Jefferson and/or Bismack Biyombo: Jefferson (sprained right ankle) is questionable to play. Biyombo had some success as a rookie against Howard by bodying up on him and being physical.

Observations

• Kemba Walker scored a career-high 35 points against the Rockets (and mostly Jeremy Lin) last season. Lin has more help this time around, now playing with three-time defensive player of the year Howard.

• The Bobcats have lost eight straight games in Houston, last winning at Toyota Center in January 2006.

• Howard was the prize of free agency, leaving the Los Angeles Lakers for Houston.

• Rockets coach Kevin McHale previously coached Jefferson with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Tap-ins

• The Rockets are looking to play centers Howard and Omer Asik together.

• The Rockets cut ex-Bobcat Reggie Williams Monday.

• This is the first of 17 games in 31 days for the Bobcats

Did you know?

Howard and Jefferson were roommates at the 2004 McDonald’s All-American game.
