— Police are searching for a motorist who they think attempted to abduct a 12-year-old girl Tuesday afternoon.

The child encountered the man just after 5 p.m. while pedaling her bicycle on Nottingham Drive, near Ephesus Church Road, police said Wednesday.

The girl told police that the man drove up beside her while she was riding her bike and asked her to get into his car. The youngster pedaled away from the motorist, who drove out of the neighborhood, police said.

The child described the man as Hispanic, between the ages of 28 and 32. He had short hair and a beard, with a medium build. He was wearing a gray or white shirt and was driving an older red car, police said.

Police ask anyone who sees a vehicle or person matching this description to call 911.
