John Hamilton: Reasons to smile amid gridlock

October 30, 2013

The Oct. 29 Road Worrier column “NCDOT wants us to put on a happy face” just did not work for me. As I turned to read the rest of the story, breathtaking is how the writer described the DOT public relations campaign for the road repairs to I-440. I also noticed the photo of a young lady apparently speaking for DOT whom I have never seen before. Who is this person, I wondered? A little quick detective work revealed that she was hired this past March as a public relations officer at the breathtaking salary of $125,000 per year. The hits just keep coming.
