UNC student robbed in campus arboretum

— A UNC student was robbed early Friday in the school’s Coker Arboretum off Raleigh Street, campus police said.

The student, whose gender and age were not disclosed, was approached by four men about 1 a.m., police said in an alert posted for the campus community on the university’s website.

Police did not say what the men took, but the student was not reported to have been hurt.

The suspects were four black men wearing T-shirts and jeans, police said, and they fled toward the UNC campus. Police did not provide a more detailed description of the assailants.

The arboretum is adjacent to the Morehead Planetarium, behind the Chapel of the Cross church and not far from where Chapel Hill’s annual Halloween celebration was going on.
