Steen, Crosby and Niemi named NHL's best for October

New York, NY ( - St. Louis Blues forward Alexander Steen, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and San Jose Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi have been named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the month of October.

Steen earned the First Star after pacing all players with 11 goals in the league's opening month. He also collected five assists and registered five multi-point games.

The Second Star went to Crosby, who led the NHL with 21 points, including 13 assists.

Niemi picked up the Third Star after posting a 9-1-2 record with a 1.72 goals- against average, .924 save percentage and two shutouts.
