Fire hits restaurant building in downtown Durham

November 4, 2013

— A fire early Monday damaged a two-story downtown Durham building that houses Pizzeria Toro, The Cupcake Bar and apartments.

Officials said the fire was reported about 1:30 a.m. in the building at the corner of East Chapel Hill and Morris streets, the intersection known as Five Points.

There were no reported injuries.

The extent of damage to the building was being assessed Monday morning.

Pizzeria Toro was the scene of a small fire April 13 that was believed to have begun in a ventilation duct.
