Coral Gable, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Miami-Florida running back Duke Johnson underwent a successful procedure to repair a season-ending ankle injury on Monday, the university has announced.

Johnson, the Hurricanes' leading rusher, sustained a reported fracture of his right ankle late in the third quarter of last weekend's 41-14 loss at No. 3 Florida State.

The sophomore standout rushed for 920 yards and six touchdowns to help 14th- ranked Miami to a 7-0 start prior to Saturday's defeat. Johnson also served as the Hurricanes' primary kick returner and averaged 28.3 yards on 14 runbacks.

Sophomore Dallas Crawford is slated to take over as Miami's starting running back for Saturday's game against Virginia Tech.
