Trade your Ibotta credits for free gift cards

Posted by Amy Dunn on November 7, 2013

Ibotta, the smartphone app that rewards you with rebates for buying groceries, is offering some new and improved perks.

Ibotta users can now choose to trade in their rebates for gift cards.

Starbucks, iTunes and Redbox gift cards are all up for grabs. Starbucks cards come in $5 increments, and iTunes cards come in $10 increments. Redbox gift cards can be purchased for as little as $2. Previously, your only pay-out options were Paypal deposits.

The money-saving app has evolved over the last year when it was introduced. At first limited to purchases at Target, Walmart and Walgreens, Ibotta credits can now be earned at many more stores in the Triangle, including Sam’s Club, Kroger, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, CVS, Rite Aid, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Costco and Whole Foods.

Ibotta has also expanded into giving rebates to restaurants, including Chili’s.
