Kathy Davis: The pumpkin solution

November 7, 2013

Regarding the Oct. 27 news story “N.C.’s great pumpkin patch”: Why can’t the farmer not harvest his pumpkins without the help of Hispanic laborers? Aren’t our own welfare rolls filled with people who cannot find work? Wouldn’t it make sense to hire our unemployed citizens before allowing Hispanics or others on worker visas (or not) to take our jobs? I guess that explains why no one in our governments at the state or national levels has supported this notion.
