Leslie Pardue: Humane Society doing its job

November 8, 2013

In his Oct. 29 “Point of View” piece, the N.C. Farm Bureau’s Larry Wooten claimed that the Humane Society of the U.S. is trying to spoil “your weekend birthday cookout, your son or daughter’s graduation party, college football tailgates and other community celebrations.”

HSUS isn’t spoiling my celebrations, because my celebrations don’t include consuming the carcasses of tortured animals. I’m glad that HSUS is bringing much-needed attention to the horrendous conditions suffered by factory-farmed animals in North Carolina and elsewhere. I hope all North Carolinians will consider making not only their celebrations but also every meal they eat cruelty-free.
