Area golfers dominated the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A girls golf championship this year with four of the top five finishers. That same group leads The N&O’s All-Metro girls golf team.

Freshman Emilia Migliaccio of Athens Drive claimed a two-shot victory against Green Hope’s Meghan Symonds and Ardrey Kell’s Moon Cheong to win the NCHSAA 4A championship. Migliaccio had rounds of 73-76–149.

Leigha Holt of Holly Springs was fourth and Sanderson’s Savannah Gowarty fifth.

Sophomore Muk Shoomee of Lee County shot a closing-round 73 to win the 3A championship by one stroke.

The All-Metro team is dominated by underclassmen. Kendra Dalton, who will graduate from Heritage in December, is expected to play at Brigham Young next year, and Leigha Holt of Holly Springs are the only seniors.
