Student attends leadership seminar

November 10, 2013

Samveg Desai, a student at Wakefield High School in Raleigh, attended a Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership seminar over the summer.

The seminars, held nationwide for high school sophomores, bring students in contact with leaders from government, education, business and nonprofit organizations to discuss current issues and enhance students’ understanding of the world and the leadership role they can take in it. Students are encouraged to return from the seminar and perform at least 100 hours of community service within one year.

Samveg is the son of Arpan and Trupti Desai.

Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership was established in 1958 by actor Hugh O’Brien, best known for his leading role in the 1950s TV series “The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.” O’Brien was inspired by a meeting with Dr. Albert Schweitzer during a trip to Africa.
