NC State women's basketball 2-0 after rout of Towson

Center Markeisha Gatling had 20 points with 9-of-14 shooting from the field, and Len’Nique Brown had 13 points, 11 rebounds and six assists as N.C. State defeated Towson 69-46 on Monday night in Reynolds Coliseum.

N.C. State (2-0) led 48-40 with 12 minutes, 20 seconds left and used a 21-6 run to close the game.

Tanisha McTiller led Towson (0-2) with 21 points and LaTorri Hines-Allen had 12.

Virginia 73, High Point 54: Faith Randolph scored 19 and Sarah Imovbioh had 14 points and 15 rebounds as the Cavaliers (1-1) won at home. Tayler Tremblay scored 17 for High Point (1-1).

No. 1 Connecticut 76, No. 3 Stanford 57: Bria Hartley had 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists to help UConn roll at home. Kiah Stokes added 10 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks for the Huskies (2-0), who got a scare early in the second half when preseason All-America Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis went down with an elbow injury. She did not return.

Amber Orrange scored 22 to lead the Cardinal (1-1). Chiney Ogwumike added 16 points and 13 rebounds, but Stanford got little other offense.

No. 5 Louisville 100, Quinnipiac 82: Sara Hammond had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Louisville (2-0) forced 28 turnovers in the home victory against Quinnipiac in a second-round game of the preseason WNIT.

Antonita Slaughter had 19 points and Jude Schimmel added 16 for the Cardinals. Louisville will host No. 14 Louisiana State in Thursday night’s semifinal.

No. 6 Notre Dame 81, No. 19 Michigan State 62: Jewell Loyd had 22 points and nine rebounds and Notre Dame dominated the boards in a home victory against Michigan State.

Taya Reimer added 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Irish (2-0), who finished with a 52-29 rebound advantage. Becca Mills scored 15 for the Spartans (0-1).

No. 15 Nebraska 62, Alabama 48: Emily Cady had 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead Nebraska (2-0) at home. Point guard Rachel Theriot added 17 points and five assists.

No. 16 Texas A&M 67, North Texas 48: Achiri Ade scored 14 and Karla Gilbert had 12 to lead Texas A&M (1-0) at North Texas. Briesha Wynn led the Eagles with 13.
