Robert D. Schrock Jr.: Medicare the answer

November 12, 2013

Marc Landry’s Oct. 30 column “Tale of two surgeries” show a clear difference between Canadian and American health insurance. He might also have noted that the total hip replacement was developed in England without “American know-how.”

If Landry’s American friend had been old enough for Medicare and had carried the traditional policy, not Medicare Advantage, she could have chosen her doctor and hospital freely. She would have had no co-pays with the Medigap insurance for which my wife and I pay $378 per month.

Medicare for all makes great sense.
