— A man involved in an accident on Western Boulevard on Tuesday morning has died of his injuries.

Irvin Hill Jr. of Raleigh died sometime overnight Thursday, police said Friday.

Hill, 64, was driving a Honda minivan west on Western Boulevard at about 6:19 a.m. when he attempted a left turn onto Hunt Drive in front of Central Prison. An oncoming truck, driven by 27-year-old Matthew McMorrow or Raleigh, was unable to avoid Hill and crashed into the passenger side of the minivan at about 43 mph, according to a police accident report.

The accident closed the westbound lanes of Western Boulevard for several hours.
