Recap: TX-Pan American vs. Tenn Tech

Corpus Christi, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Shaquille Boga hit a 3-pointer in the final seconds to lead the Texas-Pan American Broncos to an 81-78 win over the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles during the Islanders Basketball Tournament at the American Bank Center.

Javorn Farrell went 7-of-16 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the line for a game-high 23 points for Texas-Pan American (2-2). He was one of four Broncos to have double digit points. Boga added 17, Justin Leathers had a double- double with 14 points and 12 boards and Shaquille Hines chipped in 11 points.

Ty Allen led the way for the Golden Eagles (1-2) with 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Jeremiah Samarrippas had 13 points and Matt Marseille tacked on 11. Ladon Carter was able to score 17 coming off the bench and shot an impressive 8-of-10 from the field.

The Broncos were able to carry a 44-39 lead into the half thanks to their 51.6 shooting percentage, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range. The Golden Eagles were only able to make 4-of-13 from beyond the arc and shoot 46.4 percent from the floor.

Tennessee Tech shot 50.0 percent from the floor in the second half and tied the game up at 78-78 with 46 seconds remaining. After Farrell missed a layup an Alex Majewski steal got the ball back for Texas-Pan American. The Broncos then used a timeout after which Boga hit a 3-pointer with one second left on the clock to seal the game for the Broncos, who won despite shooting a dismal 31 percent after the break.

The Broncos were able to capitalize at the free throw line by hitting 24-of-27 attempts, while the Golden Eagles were only able to connect on 13-of-20.
