Linda Naylor: A fine line

November 17, 2013

We know that deaths occur in the offices of oral surgeons (“Tooth removal turned fatal,” Nov. 10 news story).

How quickly can Gov. Pat McCrory call the legislature back into session to pass a law requiring oral surgeons have hospital admitting privileges? After all, isn’t it just as important that we protect the health of everyone who might need these services as it is that we protect the health of women? Or, would such a requirement be so onerous that some practitioners might have to close? In the name of protecting the public, of course.
