Power restored to 7,500 customers in western Chatham County

— A power outage Monday morning affected about 7,500 customers in Siler City and areas to the north, south and east, Duke Energy Progress reported.

The power went out about 5:30 a.m., the company said on its website.

It showed service had been restored by 9 a.m.

Chatham County schools officials said they went ahead with opening schools at regular times, based on Duke’s saying the power would be restored.
