Holly Springs High School student charged in AK-47 theft

A Holly Springs High School student is accused of stealing an “AK-47” assault rifle from an Apex residence, according to an arrest warrant.

The weapon was taken Nov. 3, a report states.

Rhykeem Marshaun Johnson, 16, of Angier, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holly Springs High School by a school resource officer with the Holly Springs Police Department, reports state. There is no indication in court records that Johnson took the weapon to school.

Johnson is accused of breaking into the home on Holly Springs Road and taking the rifle, a warrant states.

Johnson was being held Wednesday at the Wake County Detention Center, his bail set at $30,000. He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 24.
