Raleigh police charge one man attacked another, causing skull fractures

From staff reportsNovember 22, 2013

— Police have charged a 28-year-old man with assault, saying he caused another man to suffer skull fractures and a brain hemorrhage.

Soloman David Exekiel James was arrested Thursday at the Super 8 motel at 3801 Capital Blvd., where police said he has been living.

The charges stem from an assault behind the motel Wednesday, when police found Christopher Burke with what James’ arrest warrant said were “multiple skull fractures and brain hemorrhage.”

Burke was taken to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh with critical injuries, police said.

Detectives were still investigating the case Friday, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said, and it was not known if they had found a weapon.

James was charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury and was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail for a court appearance Friday.
