Mrs. John Banister Hyde

Gretchen Cozart Presnell of Raleigh and John Banister Hyde of New Bern were married on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at five o'clock at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. The Reverend Doctor Christopher Harlan Edmonston officiated. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at The Lakeside Pavilion at the Angus Barn.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Martin Presnell III of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sydnor Moye Cozart of Wilson and the late Mr. Cozart and Dr. and Mrs. Lacy Martin Presnell, Jr., of Raleigh.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rhodes Hyde, Jr., of Wilson and the late Anne Bolling Flynn Hyde. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Davis Flynn, Jr., of Mobile, Alabama, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rhodes Hyde of Roanoke, Virginia.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. Meghan Lumsden Presnell of Raleigh, sister-in-law of the bride, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Neal Hussey Andrews of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Eleanor Lane Hussey of Charlotte, sisters of the groom. Other bridesmaids were Emily McLean Brooks and Elizabeth Shanley Lestini of Raleigh; Lindsay Spears Taylor and Jenna Eleanor Wilson of Charlotte; Ginna Crews Van Zandt of Fayetteville; and Emily Stocks Walker of Dallas, Texas. The flower girl was Anne Bolling Hyde of Charleston, South Carolina, niece of the groom.

The groom's father, Kenneth Rhodes Hyde, Jr., served as best man. Groomsmen were Kenneth Rhodes Hyde III of Charleston, South Carolina, and Edgar Davis Hyde of Tega Cay, South Carolina, brothers of the groom, and Lacy Stuart Presnell of Raleigh and Tyson Cozart Presnell of Chapel Hill, brothers of the bride. Other groomsmen were John Rushman Bunting Andrews, Jr., of Charlottesville, Virginia, brother-in-law of the groom, Kevin Michael Harrell of Charlotte, Wilder Henry Harvard of New York, New York, David Hayes Permar IV of Raleigh, and Joseph Wilbur Thompson of Apex. Louden Joseph Hyde and Davis James Hyde of Tega Cay, South Carolina, nephews of the groom, were the ring bearers.

Scripture readers were Cassandra Dorris Dadakis of Chicago, Illinois, and The Reverend Lloyd Edward Griffith, Jr., of New Bern. Greeters were Elizabeth Frisch Brantley of Athens, Georgia, Christina Noel Frisch of Atlanta, Georgia, Tara Keaveny Hart of New Bern, and Edgar Flynn Hyde of Tega Cay, South Carolina, nephew of the groom. Music was provided by David Shay Corbett II and Meghan Lumsden Presnell, vocalists; Van Zimmerman, trumpeter; and Karl Zinsmeister, organist and pianist.

The bride graduated from Ravenscroft School and Wake Forest University. She was presented by the Terpsichorean Club at the 2005 North Carolina Debutante Ball. She is the Director of Annual Giving for Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer.

The groom graduated from James Hunt High School in Wilson and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the Executive Director of Camp Sea Gull.

After a honeymoon trip to Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
