Fire destroys mobile home near Knightdale; 10 residents displaced

From staff reportsNovember 27, 2013

— Ten people living in a mobile home were left homeless, but no one was hurt when fire engulfed the structure in Wake County near Knightdale on Tuesday evening, firefighters said.

Eastern Wake Fire Department units found the trailer on fire when they arrived at 4224 S. Smithfield Road about 7 p.m., Capt. Tracey Morgan said.

Investigators planned to return to the scene Wednesday in hopes of pinning down the cause of the blaze, Morgan said.

Firefighters called the American Red Cross to help the residents find shelter.

Morgan said everyone – four people under 18 and six adults – were outside when firefighters arrived.
