Two touring Broadway musicals begin runs locally on Tuesday, making early Christmas presents easy for kids and adults. Children are the target for “Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas” at the Durham Performing Arts Center. This full-scale production has clever sets that mimic those in the beloved book and all the familiar songs from the classic TV special. (10 shows through Dec. 8. $35-$110. dpacnc.com.)

At Raleigh’s Memorial Auditorium, adults of a certain age can clap and sway to 24 of Queen’s biggest hits in “We Will Rock You.” The sci-fi plot about a future Earth ruled by conformity that rebels want to change is merely the framework for the band’s classic songs. (8 shows through Dec. 8. $46-$91. nctheatre.com.)
