Charles Hamm: Hagan asking right questions

November 28, 2013

Thanks to Sen. Kay Hagan for pointing out the elephant in the room concerning the canceled health care policies (“Sen. Hagan, other Democrats, on the health care hot seat,” Nov. 21 news story). She is the first public person I know of who has questioned why the insurance companies are getting a pass on this issue.

They had other options here. They could have simply made the policies comply with the new law. My health insurance gets adjusted every year. Or they could have simply left the policy unchanged under the grandfather clause in the ACA. It’s time for some answers from the insurance industry.
