Athens, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Charles Mann and Kenny Gaines scored 14 points each as the Georgia Bulldogs coasted to a 71-53 victory over the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a non-conference bout at Stegeman Coliseum.
Nemanja Djurisic added 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor for the Georgia (2-4) as it snapped a four-game losing streak. Donte Williams grabbed a team-high six rebounds as 15 different Bulldogs saw the floor.
The Mountaineers (1-5) were paced by Tevin Baskin, who tallied 20 points on 8- of-16 efficiency from the field. Tab Hamilton chipped in 11 points while Michael Obacha pulled down six boards. Appalachian State's loss kept it winless versus Division I opposition in the 2013-14 season.
The Bulldogs converted 52 percent of their field goal attempts in the first period to take a 33-32 lead into halftime. ASU knocked down 4-of-10 shots from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes to go into the break trailing by just one point.
Georgia heated up to hit on 58.3 percent of its shots from the field and also sank 8-of-13 tries at the charity stripe after the intermission. The Mountaineers were limited to only 30.4 percent shooting from the floor and missed all eight of their 3-point field goal attempts in the second half.
The Bulldogs outscored ASU, 40-14, in the paint and scored 20 points of the Mountaineers' 14 turnovers. ASU only netted eight points off of Georgia's 11 miscues.
