Recap: East Carolina vs. UNC-Wilmington

Greenville, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Cedrick Williams scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds as the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks slipped by the East Carolina Pirates, 70-68, in non-conference action at Minges Coliseum.

Also scoring in double figures for the Seahawks (5-5), as they won for the second time in the last three games, were Addison Spruill and Shane Reybold with 15 points apiece, followed by reserve Freddie Jackson with 13 points in just 14 minutes of action.

The Pirates (6-2) were paced by Paris Campbell with 15 points, although he shot only 5-of-15 from the field and 1-of-7 beyond the arc. Before fouling out Caleb White accounted for 14 points, Akeem Richmond chipped in 13 and Prince Williams contributed 10 points as the team had a two-game win streak snapped.

UNCW led by as many as eight points in the first half, but the squad knocked down only 3-of-11 behind the 3-point line in the period, allowing ECU to knot the score at the break, 31-31. The Pirates made good on only 32.4 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes.

In the second half the Seahawks converted 53.6 percent from the floor, scoring primarily on the interior, as they held on to defeat East Carolina in the final moments.

In a game that featured five ties and 10 lead changes, the Seahawks outscored the Pirates in the paint, 48-32.
