South Johnston is looking for a new head football coach after the resignation of Shane Dular.
Dular announced his decision in a statement released this morning.
This was a tough, personal decision for me and my family, he said in the statement. I will continue to teach and will do everything in my power to make the transition as smooth as possible. My time at South Johnston has been great.
I appreciate the support of the parents and the administration throughout my time here. I especially appreciate the players. Their commitment, work ethic, and attitude have always been tremendous and I will miss them greatly. I know they will be successful. Go South.
Dular served three years as Souths head coach, taking over after Joe Salas stepped down before the start of the 2011 season. Previously Dular had served on the South staff as offensive coordinator helping the Trojans reach the 2009 NCHSAA 3AA state championship game.
The Trojans were 2-9 this past season and 17-17 during Dulars three-year tenure. South advanced to the second round of the playoffs in 2012 and qualified for the 2011 playoffs.
We thank Coach Dular for his service to South Johnston as football coach, the school said in a written statement. We will begin the search immediately on finding a coach to lead our football program.
