Durham police identify man found slain on residential street

— Police were searching Tuesday for whoever shot and killed Patrick Danial Holmes, 24, who was found lying in the 1300 block of Fidelity Drive on Monday night.

Police did not say if investigators were looking for one or more suspects in the killing of Holmes, who lived in Durham.

They did not say if he lived in the neighborhood where he was killed.

Officers found Holmes at about 7 p.m. Monday after officers rushed to reports of someone being shot.

Firefighters and EMS medics tried to revive Holmes, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Police searched the area around the scene, including woods in the neighboring Sherwood Park.

Fidelity Drive loops through the Cambridge Village neighborhood of single-family rental homes on the east side of Durham, between North Miami Boulevard and U.S. 70.
