RALEIGH — You may want to dig your shorts back out of the closet if you put them away for winter, with high temperatures in the mid-70s predicted for Thursday and Friday.
The National Weather Service said a slow-moving air mass coming from the south will linger over the area, pushing up daytime temperatures as well as bringing lows in the mid-50s overnight Wednesday and the low 60s going into Friday morning.
The record highs for the dates are 76 in 2001 for Thursday and 80 in 1998 for Friday.
The weather pattern will be cloudy, too, and there is a 30 percent chance of rain Wednesday.
Put the shorts away again for the weekend, with Saturday highs forecast to be in the lower 50s and Sundays around 40 degrees.
There is a 50 percent chance of rain each day then, too.
