Gov. Pat McCrory on Wednesday will travel to Washington to lobby for North Carolinas military bases and service members, his office announced Tuesday evening.
The Republican will meet with Pentagon officials to emphasize the militarys key role in the states economy. The state has the third-highest active duty military presence in the nation.
We need to protect and grow our military assets. Ill be in Washington to support our military installations, McCrory said in a statement. This community supports 540,000 jobs across the state.
The governor will also meet with the states majority-Republican congressional delegation to identify ways to support the military and veterans, his office said.
