Regarding the column “In mind of McCrory, media to blame” you reprinted from the Charlotte Observer on Dec. 3: So Gov. Pat McCrory thinks his reputation suffers because of the work of newspaper writers and editors?
That links him in two ways to his most recent Democratic predecessors. First, Democrats Mike Easley and Bev Perdue often blamed their troubles on the press. Second, they both failed to provide any real leadership or creative thinking at a time when their residents faced great uncertainty and deep need, often wondering whether we would ever elect a governor truly interested in leading us.
We are 13 years into the 21st century, and all that can be said of our state is that it’s politics as usual. Different party. Different name. Same game.
