RALEIGH — Roller-coaster weather is coming: Hot Friday, cold by Sunday and balmy on Monday.
Fridays high temperature is expected to nose toward the 1980 record reading of 80, which qualifies as hot for early December.
After that, however, the weather coaster heads into a long and wet downhill stretch, with highs in the 50s on Saturday and the high 30s at best on Sunday.
Enjoy the warmth while weve got it, WTVD meteorologist Steve Stewart said.
Rain is in the forecast Saturday, and Stewart said some northern parts of the Triangle could see a wintry mix of precipitation early Sunday while other areas get rain.
The weather service put the chance of rain at 100 percent after midnight Friday and no lower than 70 percent through Sunday night.
By Monday, meanwhile, high temperatures should be back into the 60s, the National Weather Service said.
