David Lea: Letter proves point about McCrory

Posted on December 6, 2013

Taylor Batten, editorial-page editor of The Charlotte Observer, no newbie to journalism, wrote in a column reprinted Dec. 3 in The N&O how sensitive Pat McCrory is to any actual or supposed media slight (even the “slights” that are inaccurate). Batten finished with McCrory’s frustration – as when he was mayor of Charlotte – with the media failing to realize “his greatness.”

On Dec. 4, you printed the length-limit-waived letter “Progress on job creation the real news” from McCrory that reacted to Batten’s column without addressing a single item from the column while making dubious, at best, claims about his leadership of this state and supposed accomplishments.

Could McCrory have proved Batten’s point any more clearly?
